Delta Southern Bank pledges $200,000 to B.B. King Museum

The Board of Directors of Delta Southern Bank is pleased to have been able to help the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center meet the terms of a $2.5 million challenge from Jim Barksdale. Mr. Barksdale had pledged the funds to the B.B. King Museum provided their board of directors raise $500,000 in matching funds.

Delta Southern Bank Receives Honor

Congratulations to Delta Southern Bank in Ruleville and Drew! The community development financial institution was recently awarded an “outstanding” rating on its Community Reinvestment Act Audit by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Very few banks receive the “outstanding” rating.

Delta Southern Bank Contributes to Town’s Revitalization Efforts

Delta Southern Bank has awarded three more grants worth $221,963 to Drew Enterprises, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, to renovate three buildings in Drew, Miss.

This is the latest series of grants being used to renovate nine buildings in downtown Drew, located in Sunflower County.

Friars Point Bank Struggles to remain open

Delta Southern Bank officials have told Friars Point residents more deposits and loans are needed to keep the local bank open, but they have yet to specify how much additional revenue would make it a profitable venture.

Farmer and agri-businessman Charlie Craig asked Delta Bank President George Purcel Thursday night, “How much will it take to make the bank profitable?”
“I can’t give you numbers,” Purcell said. “

Groups working together to save bank

Bunky Butler and Charlie Craig have never let a sticking point gouge their long-standing friendship.

Both were more themselves Friday afternoon as they shared a sense of optimism that Friars Point can prove to Southern Bancorp’s satisfaction that its branch bank should remain open.

Bank given reprieve

At a public meeting requested by the Concerned Citizens of Friars Point under the direction of the Federal Deposit Insurance corp., the president /CEO of Southern Bancorp has given Friars Point six months to achieve a satisfactory financial portfolio in order to save its Delta Southern branch bank.

Group fighting bank closure

Closing Delta Southern’s branch bank in Friars Point appears to be a done deal, but in doing so DSB may not be living up
to its mission.

Southern Bancorp, the parent organization of Delta Southern, formed a partnership to “bring economic opportunity to
